Gijs van Lennep

2 TIMES WINNER 24H OF LE MANS

Van Lennep drove for the Porsche sportscar team from 1967 and won the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1971 in a Porsche 917K. He set a distance record, covering 5335 km which remained unbeaten until the 2010 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 1973 he won the last Targa Florio in a Porsche Carrera RSR. He continued with sportscar racing, winning the Le Mans 24 Hours for a second time in 1976 in a Porsche 936 Turbo before retiring from racing. In 1999 he was voted best Dutch racing driver of the century.
